Carrie Underwood Speaks Out
In a recent interview with the Independent UK newspaper, Carrie Underwood spoke out in support of gay marriage. In her interview, she stated:
"As a married person myself, I don't know what it's like to be told I can't marry somebody I love and want to marry," Underwood told the Independent. "I can't imagine how that must feel. I definitely think we should all have the right to love, and love publicly, the people that we want to love."
It's great to see one of the world's largest Country stars speaking the truth. Unfortunately, backlash is coming from some very angry, very conservative fans on Twitter and Facebook. Let's hope their words get lost in the world of social media, and that Carrie starts a positive trend in the world of Country Music.
